Become a volunteer för Urkult
Every year, more than 600 volunteers help make Urkult possible It is thanks to their dedication, energy, and enthusiasm that the festival exists and continues to thrive.Being a volunteer at Urkult is often intense, exciting, and rewarding. You'll meet people from near and far, become part of a unique community, and perhaps even discover talents you never knew you had.
As a volunteer, you'll contribute at least 12 hours during the festival, usually divided into two or three shifts. If you'd like to volunteer at Urkult, you'll find the registration form at the bottom of this page.
In the form, you'll be able to tell us a little about yourself, your experience, and what kinds of tasks you'd most enjoy helping with. From mid-June onwards, our volunteer coordinators begin matching volunteers with different teams across the festival, such as Security, Entrance, Environmental Crew, and many others.
You will receive an email letting you know which team you have been assigned to, along with the contact details of your team coordinator. Please confirm as soon as possible that you would like to keep your place.
Your team coordinator will later provide you with your schedule and all the practical information you'll need before the festival.
We require all volunteers to be completely sober while on duty.
Good to know before you apply
Plan your journey. Näsåker is a small village in a rural area, so it's important to think about how you'll get to and from the festival well in advance. This helps avoid last-minute cancellations. See the Getting to Näsåker page for information about travel options.
Most volunteer teams hold an introductory meeting on the first day of the festival before the festival grounds open. These meetings usually take place sometime between 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM and last approximately 1–1.5 hours. If you're unable to arrive in Näsåker that early, please let us know in the application form so the volunteer coordinators can take it into account when assigning teams.
We have limited opportunities to accommodate underage volunteers, but we do our best to offer volunteer positions to everyone who applies. You must be at least 13 years old to volunteer. Volunteers aged 13–15 must have permission from a parent or guardian.

Volunteer Campsite
All volunteers stay for free at our Volunteer Campsite. Tents only! Anyone who wishes to stay elsewhere will have to book and pay for it themselves.
The volunteer campsite is beautifully situated on the river bank, just below the village. 20 minutes walk from the festival-site. There are two walking paths to the Volunteer Campsite: Kärleksstigen (“The Love Trail”) and the boardwalk passing the rock carving area. Kärleksstigen is steep and can get muddy when wet.
Please note
The car road leading to the campsite is narrow and is used at one’s own risk to unload your packing at the campsite. Parking is prohibited due to the fact that it is located on a natural grazing area!
Accommodation in military tent: For those volunteers who do not have or do not want to bring their own tent, Urkult offers a limited number of sleeping places in our large military tents which accommodate up to 12 people in each tent. The volunteers live here in mixed ages and genders. If you want a place in a military tent, state this in the application form.
Facilities: The toilets are traditional out-door toilets so called ”earth closets”. No electricity. Recycling station. Drinking water from a tank. Vicinity to the village’s public sauna. Possibility to shower at the bath house up in the village during opening hours. Part of the campsite is drug-free!
Nature camping means that there are not quite the same amenities as at Urkult’s official campsites. On the other hand, it is the most beautifully situated campsite in the village!
August evenings and nights in Näsåker can be cold and damp, so feel free to bring that extra knitted sweater, underwear and warm socks.
Remember that the river is a capricious creature that should be shown the utmost respect! The safest place for bathing is “Dorte’s lagoon” located by the sauna a bit downstream of the river.
